junk sales and monitors
a very good junk sale, quite relaxed in fact. i was one of the people who found the 'good stuff' in three boxes in fact. it was early christmas when we got home!
some of it will be passed on to a good home; but not till after i have 'cherry picked it' after all i paid for it...

no big monitors as yet, john has helped me out with one he said was 22 inch but shr4unk in the wash to 18 annd a half diagonal measured. with all these flat screens coming in i would have thought a 26'' iiyama or sony might show up. why do i want this? well, it's for producing 'vital spark' the club magazine. being past my 'use by' date a very large screen helps a lot . we used to be ok but a dell salvaged from a skip blew up everything except the dell monitor. that little find cost me two good monitors and in fact i had to use the swap input facility on the iiyama to share between two machines.

in fact, things have got so interesting here that i was forced to actualy buy a new mother board and some ram. we have a local shop, kc computers a short walk away so being idle that is where i went. as always they were very helpful.

very good news is that phil, g3mgq, has agreed to take over as vice-chairman at short notice.

Interesting sites
If like me you are interested in valves, I can recommend a visit to ‘Frank's Electron tube Pages’ This is not run by a commercial company, but a radio amateur.

http://www.tubedata.info/ Fortunately we now have broadband, or my time spent on this site would really be knocking up the 5ps.

Another site I can recommend is the one mentioned in Vital Spark www.SDR-Kits.net which is also a radio amateur site. I have recently purchased one of their kits, the USB controlled synthesiser for Softrock RXTX. Jan Verduyn G0BBL recently wrote an article for Sprat, the magazine of the G QRP club, which he gave the club permission to reprint in Vital Spark.
